Phil is currently the Deputy CEO at FrontierSI (formerly the CRC for Spatial Information). This role supports the CEO in providing high level strategic, cultural and managerial leadership to ensure the achievement of both operational and strategic goals. He leads FrontierSI's significant Research and Innovation portfolio of projects, including leading a diverse team of strategy specialists, researchers, data scientists developers, and project managers to formulate and deliver a wide variety of research, innovation and advisory projects to FrontierSI's many partners.

This role also involves long term strategy development and execution, business development, and program and project management, overseeing over $20 million in Research and Innovation projects. However, his primary focus is on how projects are delivered, ensuring FrontierSI is recognised for collaborative and creative approach to solving problems for and with partners.

He leads the development of major strategic and transformational initiatives including the 2026 Spatial Industry Growth Agenda (www.2026agenda.com), and the Australian Livestock Spatial Innovation Program (www.crcsi.com.au/redmeat). In addition, he is also the project director on multiple projects including Value Australia $8.5 million data analytics project, as well as the managing NRM Spatial Hub, which focuses on cattle graziers across Australia and has now spun out as Farm Map 4D.


Phil has an MBA from Melbourne Business School, and is a GIS Professional with 15 years experience across industry, research and government, through roles in consulting services, relationship management and project management. He has a background in GIS and imagery analysis working across a broad range of application industries, including urban planning, environmental engineering, inundation and flooding, transportation, land use change mapping, renewable energy and natural resource management. He was the recipient of the 2014 Young Professional of the Year award, and the 2018 SIBA Chairman's Award at the Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards.
