Dr Sian Thompson

Sian Thompson
Research Associate

My research interests include the lived experience of urban housing, housing affordability, equity and design at the building and precinct scale. I have a background in design, psychology and urban sociology, and prior to joining City Futures in 2015, I worked in industry for construction organisations in Auckland, London and Sydney. My PhD, obtained from UNSW Sydney, investigated social connection in large apartment complexes, interviewing residents, managers and local government staff to identify residents’ needs and desires and the potential for design, management and policy changes to better support these.
