The 2007 global financial crisis has had a strong impact on housing in many countries, especially in the form of evictions and unaffordability, which are leading to important changes – not only economic, but also territorial and in values. In this context, new opportunities arise such as the collaborative economy or new technologies that are expected to have an impact on the way to access housing, make adequate housing policy and live be make adequate housing policy and live with new citizens: robots.


Prof Dr Sergio Nasarre-Aznar, PhD, MPhil (Cantab) is a Civil Law Full Professor at the University Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona, Spain, and Director of the University’s UNESCO Housing Chair. Professor Nasarre-Aznar’s current research interests include housing and new technologies, new housing tenures, and the housing and mortgage crisis in Spain and Europe. He has published extensively on European property law, housing law, securitisation, covered bonds, trusts, torts, mortgages and the collaborative economy. A member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation and holder of an ICREA Fellowship for Research Excellence, Professor Nasarre-Aznar was a Deputy Court of Appeal Judge for 15 years.
