City Futures has been awarded an ARC Linkage Grant for a two-year project to tackle defects in strata housing. The project aims to address growing concerns that building quality issues are threatening the appeal of higher density multi-unit housing for city dwellers, which could undermine both the trillion dollar strata industry and our broader urban planning goals. The project team includes Prof Bill Randolph, Prof Martin Loosemore (from the Faculty’s Construction Management program), A/Prof Hazel Easthope, and Dr Laura Crommelin. We look forward to working with our industry research partners – Strata Communities Australia, the Owners Corporation Network, Lannock Strata Finance, ACCAL, Strata Community Insurance and Ross Taylor & Associates – and thank them for supporting this important research.
