WANTED!

People with disability living independently

$50 for a one-hour interview

In the next few years, reforms in the disability sector in Australia will allow many more people with disability to move out of their parents’ homes or shared supported accommodation, and live independently. Finding and sustaining housing that is accessible and affordable will be one of the key challenges for people wanting to move to live independently.

The Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) is currently undertaking research on housing and independent living for people with disability. We are interested in interviewing people who have already made such a move and can tell us about their experiences.

You can participate if you meet all of the following criteria:

If you think you fit these criteria, we would be very interested in hearing your story and having an interview with you. The interview will be one hour long, and can take place either in your own home or a mutually convenient place. All interviews will be strictly confidential.

The number of participants who will be interviewed is limited, and we cannot guarantee that you will be contacted.

You will receive a Coles/Myer gift voucher valued at $50 as a ‘thank you’ for your time.

If you are interested in being interviewed please send Carmel Laragy from RMIT University an email titled “Independent living research” with your name, telephone number and address in the body of the email. Carmel’s email address is: carmel.laragy@rmit.edu.au
